A BREEAM Excellent certificate is awarded to buildings that achieve exceptional performance in sustainability. This means that the building meets stringent criteria and standards established by the BREEAM assessment scheme:

• Energy: efficient energy use, building design for low energy demands, and use of renewable energy sources.

• Health and Wellbeing: aspects such as daylight, air quality, noise levels, outward views, and indoor space quality.

• Transport: availability of public transportation, bicycle storage, and other facilities, and impact on local traffic flows.

• Water: efficient use and management of water.

• Materials: use of environmentally friendly materials sourced from sustainable sources with low levels of pollutants.

• Waste: design to reduce waste, both during construction and throughout the building's lifespan, and provisions for waste separation and recycling.

• Ecology: protection and enhancement of ecology on and around the construction site, including planting native vegetation and avoiding disruption of habitats for badgers and bats.

• Pollution: measures to prevent pollution, including light and noise pollution, and minimizing the environmental impact of cooling and drainage.
