Recently, in Roermond, we reached a special milestone: the production of our 1,000,000th patented 2 Second HANG-IN Display. This special unit was made for Stëlz and was unveiled in celebration in the presence of all our colleagues during our annual Christmas breakfast.

From 22 to 26 February, Holbox will be present at EuroShop in Düsseldorf, the world’s largest retail trade fair. This year we are going bigger than ever, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary!

Sustainability is in our DNA, our entire production process is aimed at producing the most sustainable displays possible. We want to extend this to everything we do; a sustainable building is part of this. That is why we are extremely proud to have received the BREEAM Excellent certification for our new building in Roermond.

Roermond, February 29, 2024 - Following the start of construction in January 2023, Holbox is proud to announce the official handover of the keys to their new 27,000m2 CO2 neutral home base. Today marks the beginning of the next phase: relocation and opening.

In the endless sea of choices presented to consumers every day, the retail floor is the battleground where brands and retailers fight for attention and sales. In the midst of this challenging arena stands one powerful weapon that is often overlooked: the POS display. In this article, we dive deeper into the efficiency of POS displays and reveal the hidden treasures they can unlock on the store floor.

We met up with Yvo Hoppers, Director of Operations at New Energy Systems, the company responsible for installing solar panels on top of Holbox’s rapidly advancing new building in Roermond.

Holbox is working to realise an advanced office and production building that is not only energy-neutral, but also intelligently designed. This future building will be assessed according to BREEAM certification, which stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. BREEAM is a leading method widely used to evaluate, rate and certify the sustainability performance of buildings.

The relocation to our new building in 2024 offers plenty of room for our ambitious growth plans. The graphic production line will be upgraded as well: our partner Wifac will soon be installing a new Koenig & Bauer Rapida 164 press.

One hundred percent sustainable displays is possible! To prove it, Holbox shows the latest developments and innovations in display and sustainability with an all cardboard exhibition stand. We work 24/7 on next generation displays to leave a green planet for future generations.

Holbox in Echt has grown considerably and is struggling with a lack of space. The family business will therefore move to a new, larger premises in Roermond in early 2024. Chantal Hol and her brother Martijn Hol talk about the success of the Limburg display specialist that has sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in its genes.

Change was the central theme of this year’s Superstar Awards. The industry event itself also evolved and was expanded with the display summit. On the trade fair floor, the 58 nominated displays represented the full diversity of the POS sector. Twenty-two companies presented their latest solutions for sales promotion, communication and product presentation, demonstrating the innovative power of POS marketing.

Holbox is returning to its roots. In 2024, the family business, European market leader in cardboard displays, will move into a brand new building in Roermond. Double the size of the current facility in Echt and with a complete focus on sustainability. Over 3,000 solar panels provide the energy, CO2 emissions are zero and even more, the use of circular raw materials is becoming the norm. "We are forerunners and want to remain so," he says.

ECHT - From June 2024, Holbox will leave Echt and settle in Roermond. The growth of recent years and the ambition to continue to grow are the basis for the decision to build a new, fully circular building in Roermond.

During the launch of MIND Us Foundation by Her Majesty Queen Maxima (also honorary president of the foundation), displays produced by our subsidiary Holbox Shop Direct were used. We are proud to stand side by side with the Queen in this way!

In cooperation with some partners, a large-scale action was launched for Ukraine.

ECHT - Thanks to a strong increase in orders from the European market, Holbox SP.z o.o. will open the doors of its new, sustainable production site in Gliwice, Poland, on November 1.

The Netherlands, the recycling country. Particularly when it comes to paper. Our country collects and recycles 85% of the old paper into new paper, making us the European recycling champion. So what happens to all that paper? And how sustainable is recycling? We talk to Smurfit Kappa Recycling Roermond and follow the paper route.

New generation, new plans for the future. Since Jan Hol handed over his company to Martijn, Anouk and Chantal in 2019, a renewed Holbox has slowly but surely revealed itself. The plans for the future are great and with, among other things, a major expansion in Poland, the first steps for a bright future have already been taken.

More and more major brands are opting for a sustainability policy these days. This policy goes beyond the production halls and even extends to the shop floor, where many brands present their products in cardboard displays. The Limburg family business Holbox designs and produces these displays. As a specialist in creative and innovative displays, the company from Echt has chosen to use only recycled cardboard and paper for this. The goal? To trigger a green revolution in the display market.

Holbox produces cardboard displays for in-store sales campaigns. Of our 450 employees, 70 percent work in production. If there is no work for them, the money pot quickly runs dry. When that scenario played out during the credit crisis, we waited too long before taking action.

Anyone who talks to Maurice van Aarsen and Richard Savelkoul of Holbox’s Research & Development department needs both a good sense of humour and a sharp mind. They are the creative brains of Holbox who have been staffing this department for some time now.

Just a certificate? ISO 14001 is certainly not that. With this certificate, Holbox shows what we already knew for a long time: this is a company with an eye for the environment and sustainability. Now and in the future.

At 15:00 on Thursday, 12 March, Anouk Hol will host a knowledge session titled “Green is POSsible.” She will zoom in on current topics such as supply-chain transparency, cradle-to-cradle, the SDGs, and CO₂ reduction.

During the RemaDays in Warsaw we were rewarded with no less than two awards for POS of the Year 2020.
