Holbox officially receives keys to their new carbon-neutral building

The decision to build a new, fully circular building in Roermond is based on Holbox's continued growth and their desire to expand further. Sustainability is central to Holbox's core values, Holbox's displays are 100% made of cardboard and they work exclusively with recycled cardboard. A new sustainable production site will only reinforce this vision.

Holbox's new premises have been designed and developed with special attention to energy and water conservation. The site is surrounded by native plants and houses bats and insects to minimize disturbance to local ecosystems. In addition, 2,500 solar panels have been installed on the roof for its own energy generation. Because of all these innovative core features, the property carries BREEAM Excellent certification, a well-known method for assessing and certifying building sustainability performance.

At Holbox, they call the entire new construction project "The road to maximum sustainability." After the key transfer, one very important phase of this journey remains: The move and opening. This process will take place in phases over the next few months so that the development, production and delivery of displays can continue as usual.

The new building was completed by Wijnen Bouwgroep and is being supplied with energy by Vattenfall. In cooperation with Wifac, the printing presses are delivered and installed. Holbox continues to actively seek new ways to remain Europe's most sustainable display manufacturer even after the completion, move and opening.
