Holbox is aiming for BREEAM Excellent certification
Holbox aims to create an advanced office and manufacturing building that is not only energy neutral, but also intelligently designed. This future building will be rated according to BREEAM certification, which stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. BREEAM is a leading method widely used to assess, rate and certify the sustainability performance of buildings.
The Excellent level of BREEAM certification is the second highest level and is a highly respected achievement. It means that a building has achieved exceptionally high performance in several categories and goes significantly beyond the requirements of current building codes in terms of sustainability.
With this certificate, we want to demonstrate that customers can count on a partner who is actively committed to sustainability, uses resources efficiently and creates a healthy working environment for employees. The certificate serves as a valuable indicator of commitment to environmental awareness and corporate social responsibility.
When assessing for BREEAM Excellent certification, a comprehensive range of factors are considered, including:
Energy: efficient use of energy, building design for low energy requirements and use of renewable energy sources.
Health and well-being: aspects such as daylight, air quality, noise levels, external views and the quality of interior space.
Transportation: availability of public transportation, bicycle storage and other facilities and impact on local traffic flows.
Water: efficient use and management of water

Materials: use of environmentally friendly materials, sourced from sustainable sources and with low levels of environmental pollutants.
Waste: design to reduce waste, both during construction and during the life of the building and facilities to separate and recycle waste.
Ecology: protection and improvement of ecology on and around the construction site. Examples include placing native plantings and not disturbing the habitat of badgers and bats.
Pollution: measures to prevent pollution, including light and noise pollution and to minimize the environmental impact of cooling and drainage.
Holbox's new building will include innovative features such as:
Own energy supply by installing 2,500 solar panels on the roof structure.
A white roof and white interior walls for optimal light and temperature control.
Zone-based automatic dimming lighting up to 500 lux that responds to ambient light and motion, reducing light consumption in areas of lower activity.
Insulation that meets the highest standards of energy efficiency.
Heat recovery systems with ventilation and recirculation.
Advanced water-saving faucets.

This initiative demonstrates Holbox's commitment to environmental sustainability and employee welfare. The new headquarters in Roermond will not only meet the highest BREEAM sustainability standards, but also serve as an inspiring example of how sustainability and business success can reinforce each other. The project offers not only cost savings, but also a competitive advantage in the market.
